HOSER - FREE SPEECH CASE…..

Free Speech Case - sentencing update - by Raymond Hoser

Today was the argy-bargy as to what to do with me in terms of sentencing.
The prosecution side have made much mileage over my frank and open comments on the internet and by going so far as tendering web-pages to the court, of my day to day updates and webpages. This I (but not my lawyers) think is good, because noting that we've been placing the full transcripts on line we have been making the justice system open and accountable to more people than is usually the case.
Notwithstanding this, my lawyers have told me that I should not give the prosecution side any "free kicks" so to speak, so for the time being I must keep my mouth shut.
Persons who have been e-mailed summaries of the case and in particular those involved in publications are thus asked to RING ME FIRST, before publishing anything derived from myself or written by me, lest I be seen to be undermining the judge's or court's authority, which for the time being is left wholly unquestioned.
This request now includes in the event of me being locked up, whereupon I ask that you seek approval to print and disseminate any of my publications, draft documents and the like from my wife on the usual phone number of 0412 777 211 (or E-mail: shoser@hotmail.com).
We will however place transcripts online as we get them (due to the huge and continuing demand for them) and for those persons interested in the next day's timetable it runs more or less as follows:
Start 9.30 AM, next Thursday at the same venue, Melbourne Supreme Court. Note the earlier time.
We expect it to be a fairly brief event lasting not more than an hour (but as always in terms of these sorts of legal matters, I reserve the right to be wrong).
In theory the Judge simply marches in, we all stand to his attention and then he hands down his sentence (if any), and a statement as to who pays for whom's costs.
Once again to all - thanks for your continuing support and interest in this critically important matter.
